Hi, my name is Russell Brown, owner and proprietor of RB REPLICAS.
I first became interested in replica props back in 2000 after seeing
Star Wars, James Bond and other similar films. I was immediately hooked on physical props, hand held gadgets and gizmos. As I had been working for my fathers engineering company since the age of 16 I had the skills and equipment needed to produce my first replica, a James bond metal breather. Looking back, it was a basic affair but building it gave me a lot of satisfaction and great pleasure.
In 2003 I joined the RPF (Replica Prop Forum), where I met many like-minded collectors and builders, and from here I got the idea to start my own custom machining business, in 2004 RB REPLICAS was born. Upon showcasing a few of my personally machined props, I found other prop enthusiasts and was keen to build replicas for them.
From then on I have made many contacts in the prop collecting community, offering my services (which have grown considerably since those first days) for the benefit of the community, as I am able to manufacture replicas from high grade materials with my primary concern being both accuracy and cost effectiveness.
With the benefits of CNC machinery, with its associated minute tolerances practically any object can be produced today. Once that object is in the physical world it can then be POLISHED, PAINTED, CHROMED, GOLD PLAITED.
If the object has more of an organic appearance, a casting can
be made from a master, and again, the object can be improved with secondary treatments such as ANODISING and PLATING. |
